Government Resources

www.gsa.govGSA is one of the largest government contracting agencies with 13,000 people and an annual budget of $16 Billion.  GSA affects almost $66 Billion in government wide spending.

www.fedbizopps.gov:  A good source of information on opportunities.  However, in most cases, this site is not the best for looking for opportunities, as once it is posted here, another contractor has likely shaped the request, stacking the deck in their favor.

www.ccr.gov:  If you are going to sell to the government you have to register, here is where you go.

www.business.gov:  For those just starting out in the government contracting business, this site provides some good fundamentals and access to resources you can utilize.  It is run by Small Business Administration.

www.sba.gov:  Small businesses looking to get some support and additional resources, the Small Business Administration is here to help.

Commercial Resources

www.input.com:  INPUT is one of the largest and well established portals for helping uncover opportunities that are in the early stages, it also provides a place to connect with partners to join forces on pursuits.  This is an annual subscription service, and for those that are serious about going after new business.

www.fedmarket.com:  Is a comprehensive government contracting resource portal, with access to current contact databases across most agencies.  It also has several books, tools, courses and instructional guides to help you master selling into the government market space.  It is a fee based service.

www.bidnet.com:  A provider of government business intelligence.  BidNet tracks government buying and planning at local, state and federal levels.  Key service is BidAlert that is a customized profile to your organization.  BidNet is a subscription based service.

www.govdirections.com:  Government bid, contract, RFP, RFQ and RFI research tool.  Govdirections pulls from over 20,000 sources and offers both free and paid services.  A good starting point to see how the intelligence tools work.

www.governmentbids.com:  Governmentbids provides research on bids, RFP, RFQ and RFI’s.  Similar to govdirections and input.  IT also has an email alert capability that let’s you know when an opportunity fits your profile is posted.
